Guys & Girls - here's the latest news from the Windsor Bears 20th Anniversary Celebration. Looks like a great day - come down and say hi.  JG xx>

We at the club are all very excited about this upcoming event, and we hope you are too!!

The latest news is that immediate past Mayor - Councillor Mrs Dorothy Kemp will be coming to unveil the ground improvements which have taken place in the off season and throw the ceremonial first pitch, and the juniors will play a game on the second diamond as well.

There are still plans to meet up in Windsor in the evening after the game to have more of a chance to catch up with old friends over a few drinks. The details of when and where will be finalised on the day. If anyone has any preferences please let Phil know before then.

CAN YOU HELP? - If anyone has access to a megaphone (bull-horn) or half oil drum BBQ that could be used on the day - please let Phil Norris or John Boyd know. Please also let us know if you are willing to help BBQing for a while on the day.

Lastly - if you are playing - please do not forget to bring down your £15 on the day to cover your t-shirt etc. Players and spectators should also bring a few pounds for some BBQ goodies! (All proceeds from the day are to go to the club.)

We look forward to seeing you there.

Windsor Bears

Hey guys & girls. Thought you might like to see the details of an early season event worth supporting for us baseball fans. It is the 20th Anniversary of the Windsor Baseball Club  and a fab day is planned to celebrate on the 2nd of May. I hope to be there so come and say hello. Here are all the details:

Windsor Baseball 20th Anniversary Celebrations:

On Sunday 2nd May 2010 there will be a celebration of 20 years of baseball in Windsor. The current Windsor & Maidenhead Bears will play a match against an Alumni team of familiar faces from the clubs history captained by club founder John Boyd.

The match will be played at Ockwells Park (see links below) in Cox Green Maidenhead (the current home of the club). During and after the game BBQed food and refreshments will be available, and some baseball related activities (such as hitting from a tee etc.) will be available for spectators to take part in.

Schedule for the day (guide):

11:30 – Windsor Bears to arrive and prepare the field.
12:00 – Alumni team to arrive. Both teams to warm up.
12:15 – BP for Alumni
12:45 – BP for Bears
13:15 – Infield/outfield for Alumni
13:30 – Infield/outfield for Bears
13:45 – Official unveiling of ground improvements and other formalities ahead of the game.
14:00 – First pitch

The game will be a 9 inning (or 3 hour timed) game, and so it should be finished by around 17:00.

Friends/family/spectators are more than welcome to come along and watch the game and cheer for whoever they would rather. For a change we can guarantee a Windsor victory!! You should aim to arrive for about 13:30, and bring a chair/rug to sit on.

It is likely that in the evening we will reconvene for some drinks in Windsor. Where and when will be confirmed on the day. Don’t forget that the 3rd May is a Bank Holiday Monday so (most of) you won’t need to worry about getting up for work!

For players there will be a small fee of £15 to play, which will include a commemorative T-Shirt which will serve as uniform on the day and of course will be yours to keep. If any spectators wish to purchase a t-shirt also – there will hopefully be some available for sale on the day. All proceeds from the day will go to the club.
